Medvedev: Russia may shift to 4-day working week, but not now

GORKI, Moscow Region, Aug 23 (PRIME) -- Russia may possibly shift to a 4-day working week in the future, but not immediately, the changes should be followed by rising labor efficiency and maintenance of salaries, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev told Alexander Shokhin, president of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, on Friday.

“It is clear that we also need to think about future adjustments to the labor legislation in terms of forms of labor management including so-called remote work and a flexible schedule, as well as a shift to a 4-day working week,” he said.

“It should not be perceived literally, not immediately … And it is absolutely clear that all aspects should be taken into account, including the needs of the employee and the employer.”

Medvedev also said that he ordered the government to elaborate new approaches to labor management.
